Pick a Stretch Marks Treatment for Your Pocket

by Abigail Mckenzee

Stretch marks are an unfortunate fact of life. Even if you have never been pregnant or have gained a large amount of weight in a short period, chances are that growth spurts in your adolescence have led to stretch marks. Because this problem affects a large amount of the population, there are a wide range of treatments for stretch marks.

There is a treatment option for you no matter what your budget is or how severe your stretch marks are. Remember that the only true solution to stretch marks is prevention.

How you can Treat Stretch Marks

Some treatments are natural, home remedies that have been used for ages. Skincare creams that target stretch marks are also available on the market. Yet others are more invasive surgical procedures.

Each one of these will be discussed in the following text.

Natural Home Remedies

Natural remedies are the cheapest ways to deal with stretch marks. You can use various oils and gels like rose hip oil, lavender oil and aloe vera gel to massage directly on the stretch marks. Several homemade stretch mark creams can also be used.

For example, mix:

*1/2 cup olive oil

*1/4 cup aloe vera gel

*4 capsules Vitamin E (remove liquid and discard casing)

*2 capsules Vitamin A liquid

And store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Every day you can apply this natural lotion to your skin. Don't forget that natural remedies will take longer to produce the desired effects so be patient.

Lotions and Creams

Topical creams and lotions are another alternative to diminishing the appearance of stretch marks. The most effective creams will remove a layer of the skin while providing elasticity. That way when the skin regenerates, it will be smoother and with less scar tissue.

You can usually see results within 4 to 6 weeks if you follow the instructions on the label.

Surgery

Laser scar removal is one of the newer alternatives for diminishing the color and depth of stretch marks. It is by far one of the most effective ways for minimizing the appearance of stretch marks.

However, the most effective way to eliminate scar tissue, including stretch marks, is plastic surgery. With this option, all of the skin affected by stretch marks is removed.

Each one of the aforementioned alternatives is valid for different cases. The ultimate choice will depend on your budget and the extent of your condition.

As we have mentioned, there is a wide variety of options for scar treatment and stretch mark scar removal. To treat stretch marks in the most satisfactory way, consult with your dermatologist.
