Treat Stretch Marks the Natural Way

by Gabriell Rygh

Stretch marks are an unfortunate fact of life. Stretch marks can be due to pregnancy, weight gain and even growth spurts during adolescence. Since stretch marks are common among the population in general, there are a great deal of treatments for them.

In this article we will take a look at some of the natural home remedy treatments that have been used for years to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Keep in mind two things: a cream or lotion cannot eliminate stretch marks and natural treatments take longer to produce results than commercial products.

Most homemade treatments have been used for years. And even though they differ slightly, they have one thing in common: they depend on exfoliation and moisturizing to produce the desired effects. The exfoliating ingredient can be used separately and before applying the natural cream or it can be incorporated into it.

This article will take a look at some scar lotions.

Natural remedies are a cheap way to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. You can use various oils and gels like rose hip oil, lavender oil, flaxseed oil, olive oil or cod liver oil and aloe vera gel to massage directly on the stretch marks. These natural ingredients can also be mixed with others to produce more elaborate homemade lotions.

Home Remedies to Consider

For example, mix together:

*1/2 cup olive oil

*1/4 cup aloe vera gel

*4 capsules Vitamin E (remove liquid and discard casing)

*2 capsules Vitamin A liquid

And put the mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Every day you can apply this natural lotion to your skin. This mix is a moisturizer, so it will be necessary to exfoliate before applying it to your skin.

Another alternative is the following balm. By adding a natural exfoliant, like oatmeal or ground coffee, you will not need to exfoliate beforehand.

*1/2 cup cocoa butter

*1 Tablespoon wheat germ oil

*1 Teaspoon apricot kernel oil

*1 Teaspoon Vitamin E oil

*2 Teaspoon grated beeswax

Heat the ingredients until the beeswax is softened. Store it in your refrigerator in an airtight container. Apply this product on the affected area until you achieve the desired results.

Each one of the aforementioned alternatives is valid for different cases. The ultimate choice will depend on your budget and the extent of your condition. You will have to be patient, though; most of these treatments will take from 3 to 5 months to show positive results.

Clearly, there are a wide range of alternatives for natural scar treatment. Any of them can help remove stretch marks in a gentle, natural way. You can also help stretch marks prevention by maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly.
