We're Seeing Eye To Eye
Did you ever have that problem of deciding between bifocals or reading glasses?
Which of these two would be your best bet? I am going to give you a few tips for how to decide which one would best benefit you. Although first, let's talk about their differences so that we know we're walking on the same grounds.
Reading glasses are pretty much like small magnifying glasses that you put over your eyes. Bifocals on the other hand are those lenses that come with the prescription glasses. It takes into account your current eye prescription and works around that. Sometime bifocals are seen with lines, much like those in people's glasses, sometimes they come as progressive lenses wherein there's no visible line available.
Questions You Need To Ask Yourself When Picking Either Reading Glasses or Bifocals
Do you have a strong prescription or have a lot of astigmatism? In case that you have a case of severe nearsightedness and farsightedness, chances are you're not going to be helped by the trusty reading glasses. It's the same case if you have excessive astigmatism. If you're not having these difficulties though, then you should go for a pair of reading glasses.
Do you wear contact lenses? If you've resorted to wearing contacts in order to correct your vision, then reading glasses will suit you just well. You wont have to discard your reading glasses because of this, and you can just wear your reading glasses if you have to look at something up close.
Might I need both? You can. This is a weird question, but hear me out. My mama uses contacts when she goes out to work for the day. Upon returning to our humble abode, she takes them off and slips on her readers. So, she has a pair to use during the mornings and when evening comes, she uses glasses with bifocals on it. It's pretty much a creme de la creme situation.
